Backup time machine using flash drive

Hello,

I want to ask about backup time machine using flash drive. Is it possible? If yes, let’s say, I’m using 256 gb flash drive can i use as time machine backup for once then, I reformat it to backup next time if necessary.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Time Machine is designed to backup to an external hard drive either conventional spinning disk or SSD.

Using a flash drive is not recommended as they take far too long to write to, and 256GBs is not really big enough.

Buy an external hard drive they are not expensive.
