I just got my Mac Air M1 2020; Big Sur 11.1 and try to setup Touch ID. Add fingerprint is working until I got stuck on this step. I placed my finger based on instruction, but it stopped working to scan my fingerprint on the step -Place Your Finger "Keep going to capture the edges of your fingerprint." - Like below:
I try to wait for a while but it didn't show anything. Please any solution?
Press a bit harder on the Touch ID button - not enough to switch off the computer but a bit more.
Updated it to Big Sur 11.4. It works for me.
Make sure the finger tip is clean of any oils etc and keep following the instructions and lift finger off the Touch ID Sensor and position the finger tip back on in slight different position.
Having the same issue, for those keep repeating ‘update to 11.4’ isn’t helpful because the computer is now stuck at this stage. I can’t get anything else to respond, so updating isn’t an option unless I want to risk corrupting the OS.
Have tried those before, even wash my hand before start it again. But always stuck on that step. If there's oil or any dirt on my finger, it will not be scanned from the very first time, right? :((

hello, I just got the exact same model and currently having the same problem as u, did u figure out a solution yet?
did u find any problem when trying to update? cause my macbook keep saying that my password is wrong when i tried to update it, even tho it's correct
so what did u do to solve the issue? a clean install of the os?
