GPS arrow won't go away
It went on last night when I was fiddling with an app, then never closed. Does it matter? It doesn't seem to be draining the battery.
Thanks!

The little GPS arrow won't go away on my iPhone 4, even when I've completely closed out all the apps (none left in background mode).

Crackle tv app was doing this to me. Even after reboot the app still keeps location active. I just deleted it
I was having the same issue -- I deleted Crackle TV and it stopped immediately. Thanks guys!

Many iPhone users have problems with the gps arrow on their iPhones complaining the gps arrow will not go off
Go to general /location services. You will see a list of items that utilize the gps functions .a gps arrow symbol will also be present next to each item .
To disable the arrows turn off the items which contain an arrow symbol andcthe arrow on your status bar will no longer be present on your home status bar.

Since this thread seems to have been ressurected, for the benefit of those tuning into it now because they've recently started suffering from this:
The latest version of the Weather Channel app is grabbing hold of locations services and will not let go. Even if you terminate the app in the multitasking bar. You either need to disable location services for the app or delete it entirely. I chose the latter. I'm sick and tired of half tested buggy junk from the likes of the Weather channel. I don't need pretty radar screens and video forecasts. I'll just stick with the built in weather app and the NOAA web page.
as of 10:00pm eastern on aug 12, 2011, the weather channel has posted a message on their app. it says:
"USERS: we have heard your feedback about the GPS Location Services arrow staying on. We are working on an update very soon that will help fix this. Thank you for your patience!"
so obviously there is a bug in the latest version of the app as kiltedtom mentioned. BOOOO.
let's hope they fix it soon or i will uninstall mine too.
The Weather Channel app was also the culprit in my case. Deleting the app immediately fixed the problem.
Go to Settings : General : Location Services - and start turning off location for each app until you find the one thats causing the problem. For me it was "The Weather Channel" app.
