Not connected to internet message

I’m trying to pair a watch Apple Watch and I’m getting a message that it can’t do a software update because I’m not connected to the Internet, but that’s not true. I verified my settings and I can navigate the web without an issue but it keeps insisting that I can’t connect to the Internet. Not sure what to do. Anybody have any thoughts?
