Iphone is disabled

my iPhone 6 is disabled may due to old operational system. I suppose to be able to get access to all the photos stored in it by connecting it to iTunes, but it never work. I did not previously sync my photos to my library before, because I bought big storage. Is there anyway I can retrieve all my photos?
