MacBookPro not seeing same songs in iTunes as iPhone

I'm using the same apple id on my MacBookPro and my iPhone, yet they don't see the same songs. I have purchased A LOT of iTunes store music over MANY years. I hardly see or have access to any of it. I've had the same apple ID since 1984 I think. :-)
