If you own iPhone 6, you can't update past iOS 12.5.x. Your phone, released 8 years ago is too old, too under powered, no longer supported and completely incapable of running the newer iOS versions. If you need the newer iOS, you need a newer, more modern iPhone.
It isn’t pedantic, people can still us an iPhone 6 and Apple does support it. What is correct is the iPhone 6 cannot run iOS 13 or later because it doesn’t have sufficient RAM or a cpu that can handle it. Unless the truth is now pedantic.
It is important, in the past we have had people complain when their iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone, Mac, could no longer run the latest OS that Apple had obsoleted their device and it was no longer supported. Apple itself on hardware uses terms vintage and obsolete for when they no longer support it. I don’t like giving people the impression that Apple is no longer supporting their iPhone 5s or 6 at all. And saying it is no longer supported to a lot of people means there will be no security updates.
OK...I get it. Not sure I need to be lectured like this, but I get it and won't suggest an iPhone 6 is no longer supported. As I already said, my point was meant in terms of iOS updates. But you've made your point more than clear and I won't make this mistake again.
To the OP: Please accept my apologies if my response gave you the impression you could not get service on an iPhone 6. That was not my intention.
You have an iPhone 6 it does not have enough RAM nor a cpu that will support iOS 13 or later and you cannot add it. You will need to buy an iPhone 6s or newer and update to iOS 14.6
The iPhone 6 cannot be upgraded beyond iOS 12.

The iPhone 6 is still supported by Apple.
Not in the sense it gets new iOS updates, with the exception of security updates. That's what I was referring to in terms of support.
So it is supported and Apple will still service it. To me a non-supported phone would be the iPhone 4 which Apple labels obsolete and there are not even any security updates.
OK......if we need to get that pedantic, fine. It in no way helps the OP get iOS 13.4 on their phone.
OK. Clearly this is an important distinction to you. I will change how I support answering this question as you've made this a much bigger issue than necessary.
I have an IPad Air 12.5.4, I need to update to the 13.4 or later version. Is this available for these older iPads?
No, just like the iPhone 6 and earlier it cannot run iOS 13 or higher.
