generally yes. But you need to make the leap from computer output port to display input port in at most ONE adapter, you can not "stack" adapters.

When the connection is made, you can toggle [_} Mirror displays

... by using the appropriate shortcut for your touch-bar/keyboard:

Command- BrightnessDown

Command-F1

Command fn-F1

If you want some help, please post the make&model display or a link to its specs AND

model-year and screen size of your MacBook Pro.

I use:

[_] or

[√] ... to indicate a checkbox unchecked or checked

The parameter to be toggled is "Mirror Displays", and the way you toggle it (without having to read the built-in display) is by using the appropriate keyboard shortcut -- you do not need to read the built-in display to do this.

If your MacBook Pro has the Touch Bar, you use Command-BrightnessDown on the touchpad to toggle that setting, and the external display should then light up at an appropriate resolution, with the desktop and menubar showing, mirroring the data that would normally be visible on the built-in display.

I have a mid 2018 13" MacBook Pro w/(2) USB-C ports only. The screen is unreadable. I've purchased a refurb 2020 MacBook Pro about a month ago, but I want to use the damaged 2018 for a dedicated Logic Pro audio interface computer. It sounds as though I could get some use from it before its lifecycle is over. I just don't want to spend $500-$600 for a new top cover display. Again, the screen is unreadable so I would need to use key commands to setup the monitor. OS is Big Sur 11.4. So does [_} keys mirror the display?
