Does you wife have an iPhone? If so, have her perform the following:
- Backup her iPhone: How to Back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support
- Export the Messages: How to Forward SMS/MMS Text Messages from your iPhone to your iPad, iPod touch or Mac - Apple Support
Notes: With the backup, she will have her iPhone with these messages for safe keeping.
