iPhone battery replacement

My iPhone battery’s maximum capacity is down to 77%. I know I should get the battery replaced but I have been too scared since a relative told me replacing my battery will delete everything. While most things they say is wrong I am unsure about this. Is this true or not and should I still get my battery replaced it not?
