Late 2011 15" MacBook Pro GPU issue

Hello,

I have a Late 2011 MacBook Pro I am repairing. It is a 15", and has the notorious Radeongate issue. I removed the kexts and deactivated the GPU in Single user mode, but this fix is just temporary. There have been multiple times when I have accidentally reset the NVRAM, and then I was back to square one. Does anyone know a more permanent solution, or how to lock the NVRAM to prevent it from being reset?

Thank you in advance, Asher

Unfortunately, the only real permanent solution is to find a reliable source of the logic board, or better yet a refurbished Mac of the same vintage. These machines being past Apple's vintage state, generally you won't find many authorized service centers that can use genuine parts.

http://www.dvwarehouse.com/ and http://www.macsales.com/ are great sources for refurbished Macs, if you need to run older Mac OS versions.
