Where do I find the photos in time machine?

I am trying to make a backup from one of my newer Macs and just for fun I looked at one of the old backups from 2009. There I found the iPhotos Library application and by showing the package content I can view the old photos and videos in PNG-, JPEG-, and QuickTime. But when I tried to do the same thing in my new backup from today there isn´t even a photos application app so I can't find the original photos/ video files by viewing the package content. Are my photos stored anywhere else where I can see the original files?

By default, Photos will create your Photos Library in the Pictures folder in your user Home folder.

When I open my Pictures folder in the Finder, before I enter Time Machine, I will see my Photos Library, when I step back through the Time Tunnel.

You may have moved the Photos Library to a different location. You can see the path to your Photos Library in Photos, if you launch Photos, then go to the Photos menu in the main menu bar and open the Preferences. At the top of the General tab in the Preferences you will see the path to your Photos Library and the button to reveal it in the Finder.

When you are seeing the library in the Finder, enter Time Machine with this folder the frontmost Finder window.

To restore photos from a Time Machine backup, you have to find the backup of the Photos Library and restore it with Time Machine to some folder on a drive with enough free storage and is not used by Time Machine. See: Restore a library from Time Machine in Photos on Mac - Apple Support

The document recommends to restore to the original location. I would not do that, if you just want to recover a few Photos. restore to a different location and do not overwrite your current library. You can ctrl-click the Photos Library in the Time Machine time tunnel and use the command Restore To ..". Then use the Photos.app to browse the restored library and to recover the photos you want.

On older system versions you can use "Show Package Contents" on the Photos Library right in the Time Machine backup, but that does longer work on the newer system versions. Since Catalina the Time Machine backups are having a special protection.

Now it seems to be working about 50% of the times I go into Time Machine. Sometimes it is there as It should and sometimes its just gone and only shows up on the "now" timeline. I guess that will work...

I also tried to view another backup I made on an old computer (2019) but, I can't find the photo library there either. Is it because the Time machine only works on the same computer as the backup and my photos are thereby gone? Or is there another way to retrieve the photos?
