iPhone Files app does not have 'on my iPhone' as a location.

on the Files app on my iPhone does not have "on my iPhone" as a location. It is simply not listed. Only "iCloud Drive is there.

Please don't send me to the support page for the Files app. I've checked it already. there's nothing there about turning "on my iPhone" location. It just assumes that location is already there

Greetings toolandpoolman,

From your post we can see that you're unable to see "On My iPhone" in the Files app under the Browse section.

Let's see if you create a file it will make this appear. Create a Voice Memo, then select More (which looks like 3 dots) and select Save to Files. When the menu opens, search for "On My iPhone" as a choice. After selecting this, go back to Browse. You should see "On My iPhone" listed because you have a file that has been saved on your device.

Let us know if this helped.

toolandpoolman,

Good to know, and thanks for the clarification.

The next spot for you would be to contact Apple Support. The best path would be to choose iPhone > Apps & Features > The topic is not listed. They'll be able to assist you further to find out why "On My iPhone" is not an option you're able to select to save files to this folder.

We're hoping you have a wonderful weekend!

thanks for the suggestion, it is a new one I've not seen before!

I created a voice memo. Under the three dots, there is no save to files option, only Edit Recording, Duplicate and Share. Under Share is the option to Save to Files, which I selected. There is a "On my iPhone" a location option , but all that happens when I select it is that the arrow on the right changes from pointing right to pointing down, but nothing opens. I am unable to save the file to "On my iPhone".

any other suggestions?

toolandpoolman,

Welcome back! It looks like we're almost there because you've mentioned you've found a "On My iPhone" as an option.

You did mention not wanting to see support pages but these might help you:

-Organize files and folders in Files on iPhone - This is part of the User Guide for your iPhone and has good tips.

-Use the Files app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Instructions are found here under "Save a copy of your file locally"

We're sharing these because now you're getting used to the Files app, these might give you another path to save the files you'd like.

Enjoy the day!
