Why IOS Safari using google search engine fails when using wifi since recent updates
Since the last two updates of the IOS when using safari and the default search engine google, it essentially hangs when using wifi. If the search engine is changed to the other available search engines the search works.
If wifi is turned off and the mobile/telco simcard connection is up, using the google search engine works fine.
No amount of powering the phone off restarting the telco settings etc allows the use of google as the search engine while using wifi.
There was a suggestion that security protocols were in play and 'google' hasn't conformed or apple hasn't conformed. However, if that was the case, then why turning wifi off, allows google search to work.
Of course, the google app works fine - no search problems. But given their privacy policy should you be using it?
Suggestions to resolve the issue would be useful, as the google search engine is far superior to yahoo etc.
Note: (a) this issue is quite problematic for devices like iPads that don't have a telco sim card.
(b) Using safari on a mac (which only has wifi or a WAN/LAN wired connection doesn't have the problem.
