Unlock FileVault-encrypted boot drive using barcode scanner

Hi,

I can use barcode scanner for logging (pass the password by scanning barcode/QRcode).

However, when disk is FileVault-encrypted the special characters are not passed.

I tried to prepare barcode/QR using different fonts, tried ZPL, or tried ASCII hexadecimal (%40 as @) without succeed (you can check barcode string under Recovery Key).

Does anyone have any clue how to pass special characters by barcode scanner during disc unlock?

Many thanks in advance.

Does anything get sent to the password field? There really isn't an OS running to host the barcode scanner for it to pass anything unless it is pretending to be a keyboard. URL encoding (%40) wouldn't be useful.

If it is acting as a keyboard (HID), then perhaps the key codes being sent are not what the password field expects to see. It may be seeing the device as a different input source (keyboard layout) than what you set the password to use.
