Stop AirPods Pro automatic switching

I have a huge problem with my AirPods Pro continually automatically switching devices. I keep doing this:

Settings > Bluetooth on that device with your AirPods in your ears. Tap the info button next to your AirPods in the list of devices. > Tap Connect to This iPhone [or iPad], and > then tap When Last Connected to This iPhone [or iPad]. To turn this feature on again, tap Automatically.

My problem is that it will not stay this way. I have to do it over (and over, and over) again.

I am running the most current updates on all devices. The worst offenders of "stealing" my AirPods sound is my work computer (MacBook Pro running Big Sur 11.4), my Apple Watch (IOS 7.5) - or my iPhone X (IOS 14.6) when I am using my watch- and the hubby's phone that is on our family share.

HELP, please!
