cannot install onedrive

i'm trying to install Onedrive onto my Mac Book Air (early 2017) and i keep getting the following message, no matter what location i choose it come up with the same message - any ideas how to resolve this?

OneDrive No Longer Opens or Syncs This may be related to the BigSur update released yesterday (11.6). I have OneDrive for Mac which syncs three separate accounts. After upgrading to 11.6, it appears OneDrive for Mac no longer works. I have tried restarting and using the command line tool to repair the app. Still, OneDrive will not start and does not appear in the task bar menu. When I manually launch OneDrive I am prompted to login, but after entering my login (email) nothing happens. Reinstalling from the Mac App Store only adds an additional error message that "we can't sync your folder..."

MacOS Monterey & OneDrive issues Does anyone have an issue with opening OneDrive documents across their Apple devices? Either one of the two errors pop up when I attempt to open a file on my (2018) Macbook Pro’s OneDrive (my (2021) iMac’s OneDrive works fine when I do the same though). The error will either say “Couldn’t communicate with helper application” OR it will say “File x could not be opened. It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize”. For me, I have checked the syncing, updating iMac and Macbook Pro to Monterey 12.5.1, uninstalling and reinstalling OneDrive, checking permissions, restarting my devices...and there is still the same issue. I work on my laptop on the go, (sometimes I’ll have wifi and sometimes not) and when at home I work on my iMac. It is super inconvenient to go onto the web, log into OneDrive and search for and download x files onto my Macbook Pro just to access and work on a document. The point of having the OneDrive app on a desktop and laptop is so that it can sync together and be accessible on your devices when needed. I have been encountering this issue the past few months. Hoping someone can help or offer solutions! Thank you in advance!!

App Store on MacBook Pro I have One Drive installed on my MacBook Pro. I got notification that it need update but when I open App Store > Update > click on "update" under One Drive, the update did not execute. Instead, it just started and then ended right away without doing anything. I tried signed out of App Store > Reboot> and then Sign Back in but same thing happen. After many tries, I just want to the Application Folder> One Drive > right click on "show package contents" and remove the _MASReceipt folder. Now there is no more update notification for the OneDrive update in App Store. However OneDrive open with no problem & function normally. Is there any reason why OneDrive could not be updated in App Store?? Should I not remove the MASReceipt folder?? Thanks for any input.

Hello Mike,

It would appear that you are having an issue installing OneDrive onto your Mac.

Since OneDrive is a Microsoft product, you may need to reach out to them for further assistance. They do provide information here: Sync files with OneDrive on Mac OS X - Office Support
