Why does my iPhone 6 die before it hits at least 20%

Since my iphone 6 is quite an old device released 7 years ago i dont use it much. Since around ios 13/14 it has become slow and died when turned on at 1% after not using it for a few hours. Then it started dying around 15% without 20% warning. Next it starts dying at 20% also no warning, why does this keep happening.

Batteries are considered consumable items - that means they will slowly lose power and die. If you have an original in your phone, it is 7 years old which is quite remarkable. You cannot expect it to last forever. If you wish to keep using it, take it to an Apple store or authorized service place and have them put in a new battery.
