“Unlock” … how?

Passcode unlock? If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support
Activation unlock? How to remove Activation Lock - Apple Support
Cellular carrier unlock? Only the original cellular carrier may unlock the iPhone if they choose to do so.
Something else?
