Apple Music

Anyone know how to fix Apple Music when An unknown error occurs -42670? To be specific, Apple Music just skips over songs and sometimes won’t play songs because “The operation could not be completed”

iPhone XR, iOS 14

This happens to me almost more often than not at the moment. Which sucks because I just bought AirPod Max’s.

The behaviour I get is music will start skipping, it will eventually stop skipping but music won’t play, and will then give the same error -47260 if you attempt to:

Usually starts when listening to a lossless song, not sure if all the songs being skipped are also lossless though.

Happens on both cellular and wifi. Have used different wifi networks during this time apple music will behave the same, so it’s not a connectivity issue. Seems like a bug in apple music.

Force quitting apple music seems to resolve it temporarily, but for me, it seems to just continue happening again after a while.

I've noticed this only happens when i have lossless audio turned on. Many of the songs in my playlists give me a "An unknown error occurred (-42670)" message.

Often when selecting a track in my playlists, the app will skip through multiple songs and eventually land on one that starts playing. However, the same unplayable song from my playlist will still work if i look it up in apple music search and play from the album.

My other options are shown in the image attached. Make sure you clear already downloaded lossless files (you’ll have to clear all). You’ll then need to switch of automatic downalods and download in Dolby to make sure you don’t accidentally download a losless file. Give your phone a reset and hopefully that works 🤞

I’ve tried this but it’s still happening for me. This is so frustrating because I haven’t been able to listen to anything for the past few days. What do you think I should do? Truly considering switching back to Spotify but I like the sound quality on Apple Music much better…

I’m also facing the same issue. In my case I disconnected from my WiFi and reconnected again and tried playing. It worked. I think the 42670 error is due to sudden dips in the network speeds. But the unplayable downloaded lossless files bug couldn’t be solved. The new Apple Music ecosystem has a lot many bugs.

FOUND THE FIX. Go to iCloud at top of settings main page then sign out completely. That way Apple Music is signed out. Then make sure ur iCloud is off and Apple Music is asking u to join or whatever. Then go sign back in and then boom it should work fixed for me! Make sure dolbys on and lossless and go play a Dolby song and see if it works

thanks a lot. I went to the settings and turned off the lossless audio settings and all my music was back to playing however I could only stream. This is because on my settings the "Download in Dobly Atmos" was turned on. Once I turned it off and re-downloaded my music, I could listen offline with no hiccups.

This is a new issue because previously I did not have an issue with my downloaded music. Anyways the music is still of high quality. and when I stream I get it in Dobly Atmos which is fine with me.
