Lossless Audio on iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS 14.6

I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and none of the Dolby Atmos or Lossless Audio settings exist in the Music settings on it. I've been running iOS 14.6 ever since it came out a few weeks ago, and these settings are not in it. Any ideas how to get them in there, or why they are not there?

Hello Eckstudent12,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you’re having a problem accessing the Dolby Atmos and Lossless Audio features. We would be happy to help!

Based on the article above, what do you see when you go to your settings, then select Music and finally Audio Quality?

Also keep in mind, to get a lossless version of music that you already downloaded from Apple Music, you may have to delete the music and redownload it from the Apple Music catalog.

Cheers!

Hello Chris,

Thank you for your response. This is a screenshot of what I see in the Music settings on my iPhone 12 Pro Max:

As you can see, there is nothing about Dolby Atmos Or Lossless Audio settings anywhere in there. If you tell me I need to join Appple Music to activate these settings, I will be greatly disappointed. This woud mean any music imported in a lossless format would not be allowed to be played on my iPhone without going through a third party app, unless I purchase a subscription to Apple Music. It will be very disheartening if this is the case.

Hello Bailier,

So you're saying I need to pay for a subscription to Apple Music to be able to utilize lossless audio recordings on both the Mac and iPhone?

That sucks!! So much for it being "free!!"

You would think this would not be an additional cost to be able to play lossless audio on either the Mac or iPhone, given the advanced hardware capabilities on both. Also, I've got friends in both the Android and Windows world who tell me lossless audio is a part of their OS without having to pay for a subscription to listen to their own imported recordings in it.

I guess I'll either have to download a third party app or get into a lossless audio player so I can import my lossless audio files into one of those to play them.

If you've got a better solution, Bailier, I'm all ears!
