I don't have access to my Verizon email

My Apple ID is linked to an old Verizon email. I wanted to update my email. However, I no longer have access to my Verizon email because that service doesn’t exist anymore. What can I do so I do not lose any of my data or purchases? It really ***** not receiving account activity emails from Apple as well. Thanks.
