iOS 14.7 appears to have resolved the Lossless playback issues for iPhone and CarPlay. I was able to listen to a lossless playlist without failures or hiccups via wired CarPlay in a SYNC3 equipped vehicle and also directly from my iPhone XS.
Yes, lots of users have the same problem. Tell Apple directly https://www.apple.com/feedback/
Lossless audio files played via iPhone XS Bluetooth to car audio (Sync3) either: 1. Won’t play at all. 2. Begin playing and stop during playback and device and vehicle is unresponsive to user input for that track or album. 3. Play one complete track and stop and become similarly unresponsive to user input. 4. Tracks cut-out during playback. Lossy audio files play normally - this issue is strictly limited to Lossless quality files. Sent Apple Music team feedback regarding this issue.
I have a similar issue. Playing the first 10-20 seconds of Apple Music Lossless and the stereo just stops playing. I am using the iPhone Xs with the latest iOS. I am connected 2018 Nissan Titan Pro 4x - Rockford Fosgate stereo. I connect my iPhone to the USB port. My other music formats play fine through this system but not the new lossless format from Apple. Did not try Bluetooth, don't care for it. Volume is lower, music is compressed and my phone isn't charging with BlueTooth. I haven't tried the aux port of the truck with Apple Lossless but I'm sure it will play fine due to this port being a regular audio line in. Apple has to provide a fix. The sound quality of Apple Lossless is a noticeable difference on my audio setups and my Titan's Fosgate... for the first 15 seconds :(
Also…just discovered that playing Lossless audio files via wired Apple CarPlay is no-go. Plays one track then aborts and kills CarPlay and my iPhone to vehicle connection during the first 15 seconds of the next track. I’ve already stopped downloading Lossless files because what exactly is the point if they don’t play over Bluetooth OR wired connections? So frustrating.
Thanks so much!!
You’re welcome! Let’s hope there’s more to lossless than pin-drop silence😁
The problem happens on aux/headphone too. Let’s hope it gets fixed soon.
