ping airpods inside the case

every time i lose my airpods, it's like i'm playing hide & seek with them, only 10x more annoying. why aren't we allowed to ping our airpods while they're in the case? allowing us to do so would make everything a lot easier for me, and probably a lot of other people too.

Airpods Good Afternoon! Unfortunately i’ve lost or left behind my Airpods in a restaurant or school . This is my fifth pair! When i leave my ipad behind i get a notification informing me that i left it behind and the location? Why can’t this happen with airpods???

Apple is not here.

You can't ping them while in the case because they are charging and the bluetooth radios are turned off.
