How to Reuse Assets Across Projects

Hi Friends,

I am producing projects that reuse the same assets (i.e. title with sound effects, graphic overlay, and screen crawl with editable text).

Presently, I open a previous library, copy these assets then switch to the new library and paste them into the new project. Clunky, at best

How may I easily make these assets available to new projects/libraries in Final Cut Pro?

By projects I take you mean separate libraries. The way to work when you need to collaborate, either with other users or other libraries, is not to use managed media, media stored inside the library, but to use external media. Assign an external location like a folder, to store your media and then use the consolidate function for the library to move the media into the external location. Now all libraries can access the same content from the same location.

Thank you, Tom.

I understand to apply what you suggested to static graphics. But the other elements I don't see how to store them separately:

  • One is a title that has been turned into a compound clip. I did this to control the crawl speed. I need to reuse this title from library to library, but with modified text.
  • The other is an ending title animation, to which I've sync'd a couple of audio clips. Not sure how to save that as an intact bundle.

Thanks for any additional assistance you can provide.
