Can’t change groupchat name in iMessages?

Hello! I recently transferred to an IPhone 12, and created a new groupchat with my family! However I can’t seem to find the option to change the groupchat name. The only options in the info tab are for the individuals in the groupchat. Am I missing something?

iPhone 12, iOS 14

You can do that IF every member of the group is an iOS user. If a member is not iOS, you can't.

  • Open your Messages app.
  • Tap on the paper and pencil icon to create a new message.
  • After you've sent your first message, tap the tiny carrot (arrow) to the right of the number of people in your group.
  • Next, tap the info icon.
  • Tap Enter a Group Name. (If you don't see the option, there is likely a group member who is not using iMessages.)
  • Name your group and tap Done.
