Do you have to log into Apple TV to use Airplay?

We are constantly prompted to enter our Apple ID across devices, including Apple TV. It is near impossible to get our password entered with the horrible interface. Siri isn't much help, it doesn't understand. We dread it so much that we just don't use it.

Can airplay be used without having to log into the TV? If it is logged in on the iPad for example is that good enough? Can a bluetooth keyboard be paired with the Apple TV ? ( I can't test this right now as my current iPad doesn't have airplay.)

Thanks,

Apple TV 4K, tvOS 14

Hello, Soft-Ware. Thank you for posting your question to the Apple Support Communities. We know that being able to access your video content is important to you and we’re happy to explain which viewing options you can use with your Apple TV.

From what we understand, you are interested in streaming content from your iPad using the AirPlay feature. This can be a useful way to play videos on your Apple TV. It is important to note that you may still need to sign in to your video apps on your iPad before streaming. Also, some apps do not support AirPlay features. To find out more, please review the following Apple Support article:

You also have the option to manage how your Apple ID password is required when using the Apple TV app. You can find out more in our online Apple TV App User Guide here:

Finally, as it turns out, you can connect a Bluetooth keyboard to your Apple TV and use it to sign in to apps with. The following article explains which settings you’ll want to access when connecting a Bluetooth accessory with your Apple TV:

We hope that the information in our reply helps you set up and use your Apple TV and video apps as you would like. Please let us know if you have any other questions about these features.

Have a great day!

Thank you so much! You have answered all of my questions and I will keep your response for future reference. I have no problem logging into apps on an iPad, the problem was with the Apple TV. Being able to use a keyboard will be a game changer!

You have a great day too!
