5th generation time capsule backups from big sur recovered from windows PC
Hi There.
I have a 5th generation Time Capsule.
I have been backing up my wife's iMac (2019 purchased) to it using Time Machine.
Her iMac is now won't boot, and won't even load the onboard hardware test, nor into safe mode.
I can boot it in recovery mode, but I get a connection error when I try to run time machine and connect to the Time Capsule.
I am no concerned that backups are no longer sound, and the iMac itself isn't either. I do not want to lose the data on the machine. We do use iCloud to back up photos, etc.. but there are some documents on the machine that we were relying on Time Machine & the Time Capsule to secure.
The issue is that I have a Windows 10 device and cannot view the backups. I have mapped the time capsule as a network drive, but I'm unable to find software that would let me read the Time Machine backups themselves.
I cannot see a way to mount the Time Capsule as an external drive to use HFS file system viewing software to read said backups and confirm the data is intact.
Thoughts?
At this point I'm going to have to risk a reinstall without confirming the validity of the backups.... and risk losing my Wife's data...
Short of finding/buying another iMac to recover to, I'm not certain what my next steps should be.
