When you turn Reminders in iCloud off, syncing stops across devices. When you turn it back on, Reminders will sync again on your Mac. The activity could be higher than normal when doing this. Does this occur for a long period of time? Do you have a large number of reminders? Was anything updated or changed when this started occurring?
