Apple Watch

I am trying to set up my Apple Watch, but it needs to update. I am connected to wifi and the watch is on the charger. I have reset both my phone and the watch multiple times. I have even tried to update it using my wifi, the wifi on my college campus, and at a friend’s house. Every time I try to update it, it tells me it failed because I’m not connected to the internet. I’m not sure what else to do for it to actually work.
