Hi. With my external monitor giving me additional real estate, I would like my dock, which I use to launch most of my work, always open in one of these displays and not the other one. Surely, there must be a way to disable the annoying "feature" that the dock tries to anticipate where you want it to show up. How do I permanently fix my dock so it is always open in one and only one display?
System Preferences>Dock, uncheck Automatically Hide & Disply.
Ah, have you set it to the Primary display?

Sorry, I was not clear enough. My dock moves on me, without predictability. I am not the only one to report the dock moving to another display, even if it's supposed to be anchored to one.

I bought one of the LG Ultrafine displays, and no matter what I try, the dock ends up on the second monitor sometimes.
Yes, I have. It is set to be on my MacBook pro display. No matter what I do, the dock pops up occasionally and sometimes often on my LG display.
All 4 checkboxes in catalina are checked. There are no hot corners set. The behavior is identical on the latest Macbook pro 16 running the latest catalina, and on an M1 13 inch running Sierra.
