MacBook Air M1: USB-C to USB Adapter keyboard and/or mouse don't work

I recently purchased a USB-C to USB adapter I can charge everything and I can use usb sticks but none of my keyboards or mouses work.

MacBook Air (2020 or later)

i returned the original usb-c to usb converter and bought a 3rd party usb 2.0 compatible (yes this was the problem) hub, perfectly works.
