DRM protected file no longer on iTunes

How do I get an unprotected file of a song that is no longer available in the iTunes Store? I know I could do iTunes Match with most music (I have an Apple Music subscription), but when I go into the store, it can't find the song. I bought it from the US iTunes Store years ago, and it is no longer available there. Is there a way for me to get the unprotected song file?

Livehead,

If it is not in the iTunes Store, you have several options:

  • Use iTunes/Music to burn the protected copy to CD and then rip back in unprotected format
  • Purchase an unprotected copy from another music download retailer where it is available
  • Purchase the CD on the used market and use iTunes/Music to rip an unprotected copy

I hope one of these will work for you.
