M1 Macbook Air boots in backpack

I have a M1 Air and it seems to boot when being put in or removed from my Peak Design Every Day Backpack V2. I would assume it's due to the magnetic closures in the backpack but I can't specifically pin down which one is causing it. Is there any way to disable the auto boot function? I surely don't want to return a $250 backpack because of this issue.
