iCloud will backup automatically every day/night if you meet these requirements.
iCloud backups are turned on in Settings>your name>iCloud>Apps using iCloud>iCloud Backup>On
Your device is connected to WiFi
Your device is plugged into a wall socket to charge
The screen is locked (the device is asleep)
