I have Apple Watch version 6. Is water resistant feature automatically on or do I need to turn it on? How do I do this?

Water Resistance is built into the watch itself, there is nothing to turn on,there is what is called a water lock but this is just to stop accidental screen touches by the water when you're swimming and has nothing to do with the watch's water resistance;
