I need to change the trusted phone number that is linked to my account so I can pull up my iCloud account and get all of my stuff back I have been trying for days

As a last desperate attempt, you may want to contact the old cell phone carrier, see if you can purchase a simcard with that same old number. Buy a cheap throw away phone and use the SIM card in it to receive the code.
Or, put the new SIM card into the phone you are using now, get the CODE then switch SIM cards and test that.
It will cost you a headache or money either way.

I have the same problem with verifying email.
I learned a tough lesson.
Apple does not have a Solution for my problem.
Apple follows the 1 path setup by Tech Support.
I threw the iPhone away and bought a Samsung.
On your next iPhone you may want to consider adding 2 email ID's and 2 trusted phone numbers.

That is what I tried to do I cannot get into the iCloud email to get the code because when I try to sign into my iCloud email it sends the code to the phone I do not have anymore
The code shouldn't be coming to your email address. Please read the article I posted.
