Hi k1rstyb,
Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.
We understand that you're unable to add people to group FaceTime calls. This feature is available on iOS 12.1.4 or later, or iPadOS on one of these devices: iPhone 6s or later, iPad Pro or later, iPad Air 2 or later, iPad mini 4 or later, iPad (5th generation) or later, or iPod touch (7th generation). Earlier models of iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch that support iOS 12.1.4 can join Group FaceTime calls as audio participants.
Restart iPhone, make sure you're running the latest available software. Test to see if you can add someone before the other participant does.
Warm regards.
k1rstyb,
You do not have to reset the device. We advised on restarting iPhone. See Restart your iPhone. Check to Make sure your phone number is selected in Settings > FaceTime. Check to see if you're able to initiate a group FaceTime without being added to a call first.
Regards.
