iMessage "Keep Messages" with iCloud enabled

Hello, for my laptop, I'd love to only keep the last 30 days of messages. For iCloud and my phone, I'd like to keep them forever.

iCloud is enabled for the laptop so it can get updated threads from my phone. If I limit the laptop to the last 30 days, will that tank the iCloud and phone versions? Or will it just change what it syncs to the laptop?

Running Big Sur 11.4 and iOS 14.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.4
