Hello Jon,
It sounds as though you're wanting to have backups available for two different devices. You've come to the right place for help with backing up your iPhone's. If the information on the devices are different and/or the second device is being used by a different person it is recommended to use separate Apple ID's to allow for information to stay separated, and to prevent any data loss. If you need to create an alternate Apple ID you can find the steps for doing so in the following article.
After creating a different Apple ID sign out of the existing Apple ID on the device you would like to be separate from your information. You can find steps for signing in to the new Apple ID in the following article.
