I just bought have a new Mac mini M1. I also recycled my old Mini and planned to use the credit to get a Homepod mini, to use as a speaker. But in looking over the setup instructions, I'm seeing references to iPhone and iPad, neither of which I own. Can you really not use the Homepod with a Mac mini if you don't have an Apple mobile device?
Thank you! I did see that, but since the Homepod mini was listed as a Mac mini accessory without caveat, I thought I must have been missing something. It's disappointing, but at least I found out before purchasing it!

Correct, an iOS device is required to configure HomePod or HomePod mini. See Set up and use HomePod - Apple Support.
