Cd’s I own and added to iTunes now belong to Apple?

I have almost 400 cd’s I ripped and added to my iTunes library several years ago. Why does Apple Music act like the music I bought belongs to their DRMS? This is outrageous and theft IMO.

Apple will, I believe, 'match' your music with the copies that they already have in the cloud, and it may be that this is a necessary part of having your music available on all devices and regardless of whether or not you are at your computer at home, or traveling and listening to your music library using an iPhone or iPad.

It does not mean that they are taking your music away from you. Everything you have ripped to iTunes (now Apple Music, if you are using the latest incarnation) is still there and your files are unchanged from when you originally ripped them to your computer iTunes library.

Hi, I am not getting an error message, it took me 7 hours yesterday to, they call it copy now, not transfer to transfer my 7700 songs from MacBook Pro to iPhone 12 mini. I did this because in the car on CarPlay, I got a message that said you have to cellular connection and all my music was in my library in the cloud. This week I am going to work on seeing if they are letting me match the first as Phil suggested I look.

I am also driving from canon city CO to Ruidoso and there will be plenty of dead cell areas, so I will see if Apple will let me play my own music without a cellular connection.

But don’t you think a 7 hour transfer rate over a usb c to lightening cable is just a little slow? To me it was painful.
