iOS 14.6 on iPhone 12 Pro Max causing battery to heat up and drain power

Not long after updating to iOS 14.6 on my iPhone 12 Pro Max the battery began to heat up and drain it's charge quickly. I try to keep it above 50% charge, and now have to recharge it 2 x day. I have read about others having this problem and tried the responses given to extend battery life and hold a charge longer but it has not corrected the problem. Is there a fix? If not now, when? This should not be happening to a phone this expensive.

Hi Green Eagle.

It appears you have already done a lot of work and have pretty much isolated this to a couple of third-party apps.

The standard troubleshooting path here would be to remove and then reinstall those apps and then test again.

Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books

Another thing to watch for is a dicey network connection. Especially when the issue is playing videos, a weak connection can blow through battery life much more quickly than a strong network connection If this is happening when you are using cellular data, then make sure there is not a carrier-specific update available.

Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad

If this is happening when you are connected to Wi-Fi, make sure to test on multiple known-good Wi-Fi networks.

Cheers.

Thank you, i_rina. I have read everything on the Apple support sight and chatted with an Apple tech. The tech gave me a couple of ideas I had not heard or tried, so I tried them. Only helped slightly. The biggest battery drain, and the phone heating up, really takes off when I watch videos on FaceBook. To a lesser degree it also happens on a Cross-word game I do from time to time. Those are the two programs I use the most on my iPhone lately. I am convinced at this point it has little to nothing to do with settings on my phone or the software I am using. The problem is in iOS 14.6 somewhere, and it should not be happening. It did not happen before that update. I am hoping Apple will give an update very soon that will take care of it. Thanks for replying. If I find a solution that works I'll post it here.
