Battery Replacement

I have a MacBook Air (13-inch, 2017) and my battery says "service recommended". Am I able to go in to replace my battery at an Apple store without installing the newest update aka macOS Big Sur because I do not have enough space to.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15

Best to have good backup(s) to include Time Machine on external drive;

and do not bother with any more layers of potential issues at this time.

Because some service locations have ideas or rules before replacement

of batteries or other repair services; what they may/not do, should be

a question asked prior to committing the Mac portable, for service.
