Why is my downloaded music being removed from my phone?

Apple Music has started removing my downloaded songs from my phone. I have spent hours making sure my music (some I recorded from my vinyl, some I have purchased individually from iTunes and some I downloaded as a monthly dues paying apple customer) is on my phone. I don’t want to “stream my music” using my data plan as I drive through areas where there is poor or no phone signal. I want my music on my phone. I don’t want to optimize the music I have plenty of storage space. Why is this happening. I have done all the suggestions and nothing is stopping my music from being removed. What do I do?

Understood jackfromcorpus christi,

If you are using Apple Music, then syncing is recommended to be done wirelessly using Sync Library. Mixing that with manual syncing can cause the library to be mismatched unless every device is connected to your iCloud account. Some information is below:

If songs are missing from your music library after you turn on Sync Library

So we'd recommend confirming that all devices in question have Sync Library enabled and avoid syncing with the PC. Then confirm if the songs remain in place.

Cheers!

It is various tracks disappearing and not the same tracks each time. I will open the music app and there will be a large gap in the music downloaded. I will manually download them again, and verify the items properly download. I will start to play a song and the next song in the line up will have the little arrow showing it is downloaded disappear. I touch the three buttons and what had been the choice to “delete” is again “download”.

I manually sync the iPhone 12 ProMax with iTunes over an apple cable to a windows laptop. All applications and operating systems are the latest available. I am attaching a screenshot showing plenty of storage available on the phone.

I never sign out of iTunes and iTunes immediately recognizes my phone.

iTunes shows all my music downloaded.

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Hello jackfromcorpus christi,

We see that you're having an issue with some of your music being removed from your iPhone unexpectedly. From what you've seen, is it all music or does it seem specific to certain tracks? If only some, could you verify how much storage is showing under Settings > General > iPhone Storage? How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

If it is all of your music, then make sure that you are not signing out of your Apple ID. Signing out of your Apple ID or turning off your Apple Music would cause your downloaded music to be removed from your device and result in needing to redownload it again.

Additionally, do you sync your music over Wi-Fi or do you manually sync using a computer?

Thanks!
