I have just been woken up at 3:45 am by my MacBook ringing asking me to accept a phone call from my iPhone that I received six hours ago!!
has anyone else ever experienced this?
it’s the 2nd time it happened.in a week.
I have a new iPhone 12 Pro running ios14.6 and my MacBook is running Catalina with all updates applied.
I answered the original call on my iPhone successfully and hung up in the normal fashion.

Was the MacBook asleep? I have found on occasion that my MacBook Air will do this if I've been gone from home for a bit and have my MBA closed and I get a FaceTime call and I take it on my iPhone. I will open the MacBook to do something and it will ring a couple of times saying I have a FaceTime call. I don't use my Mac for regular phone calls, so I can't say if it would do this either. I'm not sure if there is anything one can do. I'm very new to using a Mac, but I agree it is a little frustrating to get this late notification.
Strange behavior all right, but I certainly cannot explain it. You may want to go to the MacBook forums. You might get someone there that knows more about the MacBook and Continuity, but does not look in the iPhone forum.
It was asleep when it suddenly started ringing at 3.45 in the morning. However it was open on my desk at 5.15 when I took the original call on my iPhone same Wi-fi network, although I wasn’t right beside it.
