Photos on Mac - organization question

I take a lot of photos and videos of volleyball and my Photos library is huge, about 777 GB. I finally took the plunge and I'm now using the iCloud Photos Library.

Just discovered something about how I've been using Photos. When I take photos with my camera and import the images from the SD card into Photos, I will sometimes import them directly into a new album. This album will contain everything on the card. I will then go through the photos and decide if each photo is worth sharing, making adjustments along the way. Thus, I have felt the need to create a separate, final album to do this and then delete the unwanted photos from it. Thus, I will end up with two albums for the same volleyball tournament - one with all the photos and one with just the photos that made the final cut. Is there a better way of doing this? Do I continue making two albums and just give them different names? Maybe make one a sub-album of the other? I DO think it's helpful to have all the photos grouped together in case I want to revisit the ones I rejected.

Hi

When you import photos, each import is shown in the "import" folder, so they are already grouped there.

You can either add the keepers from there into a folder, or add them from the all photos view, where they will be ordered by date.

If you ever want to go back to all the photos added at that time, you can get the date of the event from the keepers folder, and scroll to that date in imports or all photos to find the rejected ones. Or you could even use a smart album to show images from that date.

So using two folders is un-necessary, but not a problem because folders do not hold duplicates of files (no extra storage is used)
