Why can i not find Zoom or Skype on the App store for my iMac?
A lot of the issues seemed to be around people hacking into calls that people had set up with weak security. Zoom made some tweaks and also did a fair bit of educating people on how to use the built-in security features. So, safer. Also, I don't think personal data was ever in a lot of (or any) danger.
The bottom line is though, that for many of us, Zoom is not optional.
Are they safe to download direct from those sites?
Yes.
The downloads are safe, but it does not mean the apps are safe. At one time there were serious security concerns about Zoom. That might have been fixed, though.
I understand, just pointing out that there had been some concerns.
