Install of Big Sur stuck on "installing-calculating"

My computer says it is an early 2014 Mac book Air 13". It has OS X El Capitan right now. It took 3 tries to get Big Sur to download. It kept getting stuck at 12.4gb of 12.4gb downloaded. It finally has made it to installing. But has been stuck on "installing-calculating" for about an hour. Is this normal?

Trust the computer had the 36 GB Empty Space Requirements before the Installation Process began or it may sit what way Avery very long time.

Suggest shutting down the computer by whatever means required including via Power Button. Disconnect all external drives. Connect to charger and restart and Immediately hold the SHIFT key. Keep hold it down until the Apple Logo appears then release. This is Safe Mode and the does a repair Disk, clears cache files and only loads Apple Software, extensions and fonts. This may or may not allow the upgrade process to complete If it does work, Setup Assist of Big Sur will be presented.
