Calendar not fully updating

I keep one calendar on a Mac and update my iPhone Calendar using Finder and a cable connection (please, no advice to use iCloud). I have recently needed to add an entry for 9 January 2026 which has gone onto my Mac calendar. After several updates of my iPhone calendar the entry for 9 January 2026 is still not there. Scrolling through future years on the iPhone I can see that in January 2026 there are regular weekly activities scheduled but if I click on any of these, the calendar switches to June 2023 with entries for that year. It is as if it has a built-in read limit of 2 years from the current month i.e. June 2021. Is this a settings problem that I am not getting the update on my iPhone for January 2026 ?

Since you don't use iCloud and only sync your iPhone with your computer, do you have multiple calendars on your iPhone? Maybe with other email accounts you have set up on your iPhone? See if all your calendars are selected for you to be able to view and make sure the right one is selected as your default calendar.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I was aware of the checkbox selection of not syncing events older than so many days but I had assumed that this was backwards from the present time. For example if I went onto my Mac calendar for two weeks ago from the present date and added a note to myself on one of the entries, I would assume that an update of Mac to iPhone would not update this historical entry if I had selected 'do not sync older than seven days'. What you seem to be suggesting is that I have got this the wrong way round and if there is any number of days, say 30, in the checkbox then the sync will ignore any entries that are more than 30 days into the future. If that is correct then it is probably why I am not getting an entry syncing for January 2026 ?

What I have found - and cannot work out why - is that my iPhone calendar will allow me to see 5 years or more ahead. SO I can see, as stated previously, the regular weekly activities in January 2026. However, the moment I drill down to see specific events, it will not scroll beyond July 2023. It just stops as if there is nothing beyond that date. I am not aware of having set any kind of 'read only' stop at 2 years so why will it not scroll past July 2023 ?

Hello Stylax,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

We understand from your post that your future events are not syncing to your iPhone. Make sure that you have not set a limit in the sync settings as described below:

Sync contacts and calendars between your Mac and iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

"Sync calendars to your device: Select the “Sync calendars onto [device name]” checkbox, then click “All calendars” or “Selected calendars.” If you clicked “Selected calendars,” select the checkboxes of the calendars you want to sync in the Calendars list. To prevent calendar events older than a specific number of days from syncing, select the “Do not sync events older than [number] days” checkbox and enter a number of days.

Best Regards.
